4. SIG Science Talk

On July 15, 2021, the 4th SIG Science Talk online will take place at 10:30 am. Representatives of the SIG institutes Cetex Institut Chemnitz, Kunststoff-Zentrum Leipzig (KUZ) and Institut für Holztechnologie Dresden (IHD) will report and discuss on the topic of technologies and processes. Hannover Messe 2021, Digital Edition

At the Digital Edition of Hannover Messe 2021, the Institute of Mechatronics will present a selection of current
software products and research results from the field of simulation of mechanical/mechatronic systems and digitization of human movements at the joint booth SACHSEN! organized by IHK Chemnitz.

The Saxon Industrial Research Association - SIG has launched a new online event series, the SIG Science Talk. In the second talk on March 18, 2021, representatives from three SIG institutes will discuss the topic of Around Corona. Further information on the event can be found here. alaska/MultiBodyDynamics, Version 2020.2 released

With the current release 2020.2 of the multibody dynamics based general purpose simulation software developed at the Institute of Mechatronics the new name alaska/MultiBodyDynamics (alaska/MBD) is introduced. alaska/MBD includes the alaska/ModellerStudio, the console program alaska/Batch, a number of extension modules as well as additional software for pre- and postprocessing. Major new features of the current release include improvements in the use of external model components as well as an interface for the use of CAD data from the software FreeCAD. A free trial version of the alaska/ModellerStudio is available for download as always.

Project SimKra started

Together with the company imk automotive GmbH and the Chair of Measurement and Sensor Technology at Chemnitz University of Technology, the IfM has started the project SimKra - Parametric Simulation of Joining Forces for the Digital Safeguarding of Assembly Processes. The project is funded by the Sächsische Aufbaubank. The aim of the project is to develop a methodology that determines the joining forces acting during the assembly of clips as a function of various influencing factors and shows the effects on the hand-arm system.

Project PASTA started

The IfM has started the project PASTA - Precise design tools of complex coupled vibration systems of modern WTGs in turbulent excitation as part of the 7th Energy Research Program of the German Federal Government (BMWi). Together with the wind turbine manufacturer Nordex and the ForWind Center at the University of Oldenburg will be investigating the causes of time limited upswing phenomena, which are not reproducible with currently available simulation models for wind and turbines.

alaska/ModellerStudio 2020.1 released

Version 2020.1 of the simulation software alaska/ModellerStudio has been released. In addition to a number of detailed improvements in the definition of simulation models, interactive work with the software and linear system analysis, two new add-on programs are provided. The EigenmodeAnalyzer is used to display results of linear system analyses in Campbell diagrams. The program alaskaFEBody is used for the automated test of simulation models for flexible bodies, primarily for rotor blades of wind turbines.

Support in the fight against Corona

Institutes of the Saxon Industrial Research Association (www.sig-forschung.de), of which the Institute for Mechatronics is also a member, support Saxon hospitals in the fight against corona according to their possibilities. (more information)
